How to Escape the Chaos of the Holidays (Without Skipping Town)

The holidays can be stressful. Gathering with your family is a wonderful thing, but can also bubble up a lot of emotions and tension, which can throw you out of your happy groove. 

A week of hosting my husband's family (whose company I enjoy and whose help with the house and baby I am extraordinarily grateful for) has got me finding creative ways to decompress so I can still hang with the group and not lose my cool. Here are 3 of my go-tos this week:

1. Take a shower. A shower is a great way to escape without leaving the house. The blend of alone time, breathing time and flow of rejuvenating water allows me to reset my in just a few minutes. 

2. Lay down in a quiet place with your legs up the wall. I might sound like a broken record, but I just love this pose so much. Just a few minutes helps me to significantly decrease an incredible amount of tension.  

3. Go for a walk. Alone time, fresh air and exposure to nature helps me recalibrate my patience barometer. After just a short walk, I'm able to head back into family time a cooler, calmer person.
